Within this lesson Doug has thoughtfully provided us with a useful section on practice tips/techniques and Eric Claptons' famed forefinger vibrato, his bends, hammer ons, pull offs and dynamics.
Eric knew his minor pentatonic scale inside and out having been introduced/exposed to music at an early age. That's why he could be so fast when he wanted. In his autobiography Eric is coy about saying when exactly he started playing the guitar. It was early teens I gather.
As always, besides having comparable equipment, knowing your pentatonics and some basic fret board I IV V is going to make learning from all these guitar lessons smoother.
There is some intricate lead work in each song like Layla for example. Doug says it 'ain't as easy as it looks to get it down the correct Eric Clapton way. I'll work up to Layla using the other songs.
I like this lesson and I am going to spend more time here. There is one haunting acoustic number 'I cant find my way home' by Blind Faith that I also like even though it takes me back many years and is a tad depressing. Still its a beautiful example of Eric being able to play more than just the blues. This learn guitar lesson is coin worthy and offers practical applications!
